Note: Everything that I have written here is entirely fiction. None of this is based on any major Sci-fi show or book, though I have used a few edeisgns to give you an idea of what some of my ships and ground forces, and even my weapons look like. And please, enjoy. I took a lot of time to write this all up!
The Shadow War [/i]
History
The Terran's, or human's, were at first a very violent race to Galactic standards. They fought amongst themselves for power, or because of religion. The political system of Earth was flawed and corrupt as well, each nation having there own different political system. And their technology, primitive back in the 21st century (to galactic standards). It seemed that the human's would never make it out of there solar system until the 41st century. And that is what they longed for the most- to be able to travel the far reaches of space.
The human's were explorers, plain and simple. Discovering new things, making mysteries to solve and solving them, whatever the outcome was their expertise. Exploring united the people of Earth. But exploring could also cause chaos and destruction amongst the human's.
But the ancient beings of the universe watched the human's curiously, knowing that the race had much potential, and much to prove. These ancient beings, known in the universe as 'The Mysterious One's' came forth to the human's. They offered them knowledge, and in return, the human's were to be a peaceful, and united race, and would only defend themselves, and never conquer. And so, after much delibration between each of the political powers of the Terran's, they agreed.
And so the Mysterious Ones gave the knowledge to the brightest, bravest, and most trust-worthy of the humans. The out come was remarkable.
The human's, with the knowledge of the Mysterious Ones, found a way to travel huge distances in a matter of minutes in space! It was called an energy drive. What the energy drive did was it collected the energy from the space around it (space itself) and then collected it in a kind of reactor as fuel, and then hurtled you forward at velocities much greater then the speed of light. And the reactor kept taking in the energy around it as it hurtled towards it's destination. How did it hurtle the vessel forward? Well, at the back of every vessel there would be a hole, a pretty large hole that acted as a booster. That was where the 'energy' was released and how you began to go. But for a controlled ride, you had to open a ‘Energy Window’, which is in ‘Energy Space’ (just like a hyper drive from SG-1/Atlantis.)
And for sublight engines, they just used the energy drive. The Terran's in 2067 found out that you could use the energy drive for sub-light velocities. All you had to do was control the energy drive and how much energy it actually takes in. But if you put the energy drive velocity over 50%, you were going past light speed. If you want to go as fast as possible, you put it to the max, if you want to go at sublight velocities you have to put the energy collection rate down to twenty or less percent. That was the only way.
And so, finally, a year before the turn of the century, in 2099, the first active exploration vessel with a fully working energy drive was launched. It was code-named 'The Icehawk'. The launch was a success and the humans colonized their first world. They named it in honour of the vessel, 'Icehawk One'. In 2110, the New Terran Galactic Alliance was formed.
The Human's began to build ship yards and space stations around there colonized worlds just incase of impending attack. They also began developing and putting into service new weapons, shielding technology, sensors and even ship classes. The human's were evolving at a faster rate than the Mysterious Ones ever predicted, and they were as one, as they had wanted. There work was done, and they retreated to the confines of there own realm.
By 2300, the human's had met thirty three new races, all of which were peaceful, and half of which were technologically advanced. They had also colonized a quarter of the free space left in the Milky Way galaxy. They kept progressing and upgrading there ships and technology at an alarming, but yet very good rate.
Then, in 2363, the human's met a new race, who were potentially hostile, but in the end were proven to be a peaceful race. They were called Lotari. They were a humanoid like race that had very advanced technology, possibly as advanced or more advanced then human technology. And they had the knowledge to harness the 'energy' in more ways then just an engine. But they wouldn't disclose that information to the NTGA.
In 2369, the Lotari were offically allies of the New Terran Galactic Alliance. Another ally to add to the list and the first new member of the NTGA since 2254. It was a great step for the human's.
It was now 2418. The human's had now met almost every race in the Milky Way galaxy and colonized almost all the free world's that were left to be colonized. The NTGA decided it was time to explore the next galaxy. So they prepared a fleet of five colony/science ships and a group of 3 military ships (two destroyers one Heavy Cruiser) to explore the nearest galaxy, which was code-named 'Angel'. On August 22nd of 2418, the fleet, code-named 'Angel 1' arrived and contacted the NTGA. The mission was a success. And so the exploration of the Angel Galaxy began.
It took the expedition a year to find world's that could be colonized by human's, but when they found one, they were in for a surprise.
The 'Angel 1' expedition came into contact with a very barbaric race of humanoids called the Trilosians. The Terran's called them Tri's for short. They were territorial and a gorilla like race. Immediatlely after the 'Angel 1' expedition tried to begin diplomatic relations with the people, they with there advanced technology destroyed the expedition and killed every member of it. Then started the Angel War.
The human's were caught off guard by this barbaric race, but the human's also knew they had much better military capabilities then the Tri's... or so they thought. They sent a fleet of two thousand ships to the Angel Galaxy. No ship was ever heard from again. The last transmission talked something about a blockade surronding there borders... which was the edge of the galaxy itself.
The human's immediately took action. All non-military ship yards and research facilities were turned into military ship yards and research facilities for better ways to defeat the enemy, and for the smaller ships to be built twice as much as the larger so that the fleet was evened out a bit.
By 2500, the Human's had assembled a fleet of 21,643 ships. Expectng an attack from the Trilosians, they set up heavy border patroll around the Milky Way. Eventually they came, and that was the beginning of the end of the Trilosian's.
The war raged for eight hundred years, nobody gaining anything from this fighting. And because of this, the human's were getting impatient. In 3328, the human's assembled a fleet of six thousand of there best captain's ships. The fleet was code-named 'Fleet Space Monkey's'. The Terran's got a laugh out of that one. And then in March of 3328, the fleet was launched from NTGA Earth ship yards. 'Operation Ending' had begun.
The fleet engaged enemy forces immediatlely after powering down there engines. The Terran fleet retaliated fiercely.
And so the battle raged for seven days, constant fighting from both sides until finally, the Terran fleet managed to break the lines of the Trilosian's and defeat the remainder of there defence forces. From there, the Terran fleet made its way to Trilosia, the Trilosian homeworld, and asked for there surrender. The Trilosian government only took a short time to surrender to the Terran's. But the human's, being a now peaceful race, just left the Trilosian's to rebuild there Empire, as long as they didn't attack the human's again. Of course, the Tri's agreed to this and asked if they could keep contact with the NTGA. The NTGA immediately responded by saying one word: 'Yes'.
And so the Age of Peace had begun. The New Terran Galactic Alliance expanded there frontiers more and more each passing year, colonizing more and more worlds in more and more galaxies. Overall the NTGA had colonized hundreds of thousands of worlds in more than 40 galaxies. And not just that, the technological level of the human's increasingly became faster and faster in all aspects: exploration, medical, defense systems, sensors, and even weapons and ships! But in this universe, peace would not last... ever.
In 4112, the New Terran Galactic Alliance lost communications with all military and non-military installations and colonies in the Kalon Galaxy. This aroused suspicion amongst the great leaders of the NTGA. And to investigate what had happened, the NTGA decided to launch its flagship, the Avenger-A, to the Kalon Galaxy. The Avenger-A and its crew were never heard from again. But before the ship was lost, it sent back tactical data on the Humans' new enemy: the Shadow Hunters.
The Shadow Hunter's were a reptilian like race which were combined with cybernetic technology to use for there advantage in all aspects: strength, intelligence etc. Tactical data on there ships was scarce, but they did know that they were heavily armed. There means of getting to NTGA territory is still unknown. And so, the NTGA decided it was time to stand and fight again. The Shadow War had begun.
Races
The Mysterious Ones: Not playable
New Terran Galactic Alliance: Playable; The New Terran Galactic Alliance is a group of two races: Terran and Lotari. Both races are highly advanced, and both races want peace in the universe. But if they must stand and fight, they will. Though the Lotari still have there own government, many still are involved in the NTGA, either serving on ships or as foot soldiers, or as leaders or explorers.
The NTGA forces have good all around tech (weapons, shields, sensors and engines) and can take on anyone.They're the average joes of the universe in space and on land. Specials: you can equip any vessel over a Medium Cruiser with up to 150 fighters/shuttles.
Lotari Republic: Playable; The Lotari Republic is an ally of the NTGA, but there people are members as well. Many Lotari still stay with there own people, and allow humans to mingle with them and even become members of government, military and non-military doings in the Republic. The Lotari have great Weapons, but lack good shields. Other than that, they're average. Specials: can equip two extra energy weapons on any vessel over a medium cruiser.
Trilosian Empire: Playable; The Trilosians are barbaric and relentless. They are at peace with the Lotari Reublic and New Terran Galactic Alliance, but not true allies or members. Not yet, anyway. Right now the Trilosian's territories are being slowly taken over by the Shadow Hunters. They just might have to become the allies of the NTGA and LR. The Trilosians have average weapons, great shields, but lack sensors. They have average energy drives. Specials: They can seperate there battle ships into two parts and bombard the enemy with weapons fire from both sides. Kamikaze!
Shadow Hunters: Playable: The reptilian/cybernetic race of evil. They are the enemy of all that is not them. No one knows why they came, from where or how, but what people do know is that they're powerful and evil. They have awsome weapons, awsome shields, average sensors but poor engines. Specials: Energy Gate. The Shadow Hunters over seven posts can build an energy gate. It is large and can act as an engine for a fleet of up to 2000 ships at a time. It acts as an energy drive for the S.H.'s and sends them where they need to be. It is slow to recharge though. Takes nine posts to recharge.
Weapons
This is just a listing of weapons for ships and ground forces.
Ion Pistol: Human/Trilosian side arm. Looks like a phaser from TNG, except it fires in pulses.
Ion Rifle: Human/Trilosian main ground weapon. Looks life a phaser rifle from late DS9, and fires like that too.
Ion Chain Gun: An Ion machine gun, fires three rounds per second. Looks like a chain gun, except it doesn't spin and has a large box of Ion energy instead of a clip. Can heat up and over heat. Human/Trilosian.
Energy Pistol: Lotari/Shadow Hunter side arm. Looks like a 9mm, except metallic and it uses Energy.
Energy Rifle: Lotari/Shadow Hunter main weapon. Looks like a P90, except it's metallic coloured and uses Energy. Looks like a phaser rifle blast.
Light Ion Laser: The weakest weapon a ship can have, but the strongest a HMOMCS, though very fast recharge rate. Use it to lower a ship’s shields, or if used on an HMOMCS, used it for whatever.
Heavy Ion Laser: The average joe of ship's weapons. You can use this baby for just about anything! Good recharge rate, and average yield, two of these things can destroy anything up to a light cruiser by themselves. But I'd recommend using these to diable a ships systems after there shields are down.
Ion Cannon: The second most powerful weapon in the game. It is a powerful and large Heavy Ion Laser blast. It's like twenty of them firing at once! High yield, slow recharge rate. I'd recommend you use these for the big and slow ships of the enemies’ fleet.
Energy Laser: Tied with the Ion Cannon in second, this laser has an average recharge rate and can fire powerful bursts of 'Energy'. Use these to take down the cruisers of the fleet, cause it can catch them for sure.
Matter/Anti-Matter torpedo: The Third most powerful weapon in the game. This torpedo has a high yield and a good recharge. Use these projectiles to disable a ship (any ship class), and then let the bigger guns destroy them for the over kill. But remember, you only have 250 of them. Special: Some of your torpedo's are outfitted with devices that target and then follow the ship until it impacts. You get to use one of these babies every six turns. Maximum is 30.
Energy Cannon: The most powerful weapon in the game. It harnesses the energy of space around them and fires a top yield energy ball at the target, instantly disabling the ship. But remember, it has a very slow recharge rate. Use this to disable the more powerful ships then destroy it with your lasers. Recharge is eight turns, and rotation is four.
Autocannon: Another fairly weak weapon in the game, this baby is used in ground installation short range turrets, and on HMOMCS’s, especially the Escort class.
Railgun: Just about as powerful as a Light Ion Cannon, this baby is used on ground turret installations and on HMOMCS’s from a Heavy Attack Class and up
Blast Cannon: This is like the artillery of a military. Similar to the railgun, this baby stacks up to a Light Ion Cannon. Used on ground installation turrets and HMOMCS’s

They also began developing and putting into service new weapons, shielding technology, sensors and even ship classes. The human's were evolving at a faster rate than the Mysterious Ones ever predicted, and they were as one, as they had wanted. There work was done, and they retreated to the confines of there own realm.
By 2300, the human's had met thirty three new races, all of which were peaceful, and half of which were technologically advanced. They had also colonized a quarter of the free space left in the Milky Way galaxy. They kept progressing and upgrading there ships and technology at an alarming, but yet very good rate.
Then, in 2363, the human's met a new race, who were potentially hostile, but in the end were proven to be a peaceful race. They were called Lotari. They were a humanoid like race that had very advanced technology, possibly as advanced or more advanced then human technology. And they had the knowledge to harness the 'energy' in more ways then just an engine. But they wouldn't disclose that information to the NTGA.
In 2369, the Lotari were offically allies of the New Terran Galactic Alliance. Another ally to add to the list and the first new member of the NTGA since 2254. It was a great step for the human's.
It was now 2418. The human's had now met almost every race in the Milky Way galaxy and colonized almost all the free world's that were left to be colonized. The NTGA decided it was time to explore the next galaxy. So they prepared a fleet of five colony/science ships and a group of 3 military ships (two destroyers one Heavy Cruiser) to explore the nearest galaxy, which was code-named 'Angel'. On August 22nd of 2418, the fleet, code-named 'Angel 1' arrived and contacted the NTGA. The mission was a success. And so the exploration of the Angel Galaxy began.
It took the expedition a year to find world's that could be colonized by human's, but when they found one, they were in for a surprise.
The 'Angel 1' expedition came into contact with a very barbaric race of humanoids called the Trilosians. The Terran's called them Tri's for short. They were territorial and a gorilla like race. Immediatlely after the 'Angel 1' expedition tried to begin diplomatic relations with the people, they with there advanced technology destroyed the expedition and killed every member of it. Then started the Angel War.
The human's were caught off guard by this barbaric race, but the human's also knew they had much better military capabilities then the Tri's... or so they thought. They sent a fleet of two thousand ships to the Angel Galaxy. No ship was ever heard from again. The last transmission talked something about a blockade surronding there borders... which was the edge of the galaxy itself.
The human's immediately took action. All non-military ship yards and research facilities were turned into military ship yards and research facilities for better ways to defeat the enemy, and for the smaller ships to be built twice as much as the larger so that the fleet was evened out a bit.
By 2500, the Human's had assembled a fleet of 21,643 ships. Expectng an attack from the Trilosians, they set up heavy border patroll around the Milky Way. Eventually they came, and that was the beginning of the end of the Trilosian's.
The war raged for eight hundred years, nobody gaining anything from this fighting. And because of this, the human's were getting impatient. In 3328, the human's assembled a fleet of six thousand of there best captain's ships. The fleet was code-named 'Fleet Space Monkey's'. The Terran's got a laugh out of that one. And then in March of 3328, the fleet was launched from NTGA Earth ship yards. 'Operation Ending' had begun.
The fleet engaged enemy forces immediatlely after powering down there engines. The Terran fleet retaliated fiercely.
And so the battle raged for seven days, constant fighting from both sides until finally, the Terran fleet managed to break the lines of the Trilosian's and defeat the remainder of there defence forces. From there, the Terran fleet made its way to Trilosia, the Trilosian homeworld, and asked for there surrender. The Trilosian government only took a short time to surrender to the Terran's. But the human's, being a now peaceful race, just left the Trilosian's to rebuild there Empire, as long as they didn't attack the human's again. Of course, the Tri's agreed to this and asked if they could keep contact with the NTGA. The NTGA immediately responded by saying one word: 'Yes'.
And so the Age of Peace had begun. The New Terran Galactic Alliance expanded there frontiers more and more each passing year, colonizing more and more worlds in more and more galaxies. Overall the NTGA had colonized hundreds of thousands of worlds in more than 40 galaxies. And not just that, the technological level of the human's increasingly became faster and faster in all aspects: exploration, medical, defense systems, sensors, and even weapons and ships! But in this universe, peace would not last... ever.
In 4112, the New Terran Galactic Alliance lost communications with all military and non-military installations and colonies in the Kalon Galaxy. This aroused suspicion amongst the great leaders of the NTGA. And to investigate what had happened, the NTGA decided to launch its flagship, the Avenger-A, to the Kalon Galaxy. The Avenger-A and its crew were never heard from again. But before the ship was lost, it sent back tactical data on the Humans' new enemy: the Shadow Hunters.
The Shadow Hunter's were a reptilian like race which were combined with cybernetic technology to use for there advantage in all aspects: strength, intelligence etc. Tactical data on there ships was scarce, but they did know that they were heavily armed. There means of getting to NTGA territory is still unknown. And so, the NTGA decided it was time to stand and fight again. The Shadow War had begun.
Races
The Mysterious Ones: Not playable
New Terran Galactic Alliance: Playable; The New Terran Galactic Alliance is a group of two races: Terran and Lotari. Both races are highly advanced, and both races want peace in the universe. But if they must stand and fight, they will. Though the Lotari still have there own government, many still are involved in the NTGA, either serving on ships or as foot soldiers, or as leaders or explorers.
The NTGA forces have good all around tech (weapons, shields, sensors and engines) and can take on anyone.They're the average joes of the universe in space and on land. Specials: you can equip any vessel over a Medium Cruiser with up to 150 fighters/shuttles.
Lotari Republic: Playable; The Lotari Republic is an ally of the NTGA, but there people are members as well. Many Lotari still stay with there own people, and allow humans to mingle with them and even become members of government, military and non-military doings in the Republic. The Lotari have great Weapons, but lack good shields. Other than that, they're average. Specials: can equip two extra energy weapons on any vessel over a medium cruiser.
Trilosian Empire: Playable; The Trilosians are barbaric and relentless. They are at peace with the Lotari Reublic and New Terran Galactic Alliance, but not true allies or members. Not yet, anyway. Right now the Trilosian's territories are being slowly taken over by the Shadow Hunters. They just might have to become the allies of the NTGA and LR. The Trilosians have average weapons, great shields, but lack sensors. They have average energy drives. Specials: They can seperate there battle ships into two parts and bombard the enemy with weapons fire from both sides. Kamikaze!
Shadow Hunters: Playable: The reptilian/cybernetic race of evil. They are the enemy of all that is not them. No one knows why they came, from where or how, but what people do know is that they're powerful and evil. They have awsome weapons, awsome shields, average sensors but poor engines. Specials: Energy Gate. The Shadow Hunters over seven posts can build an energy gate. It is large and can act as an engine for a fleet of up to 2000 ships at a time. It acts as an energy drive for the S.H.'s and sends them where they need to be. It is slow to recharge though. Takes nine posts to recharge.
Weapons
This is just a listing of weapons for ships and ground forces.
Ion Pistol: Human/Trilosian side arm. Looks like a phaser from TNG, except it fires in pulses.
Ion Rifle: Human/Trilosian main ground weapon. Looks life a phaser rifle from late DS9, and fires like that too.
Ion Chain Gun: An Ion machine gun, fires three rounds per second. Looks like a chain gun, except it doesn't spin and has a large box of Ion energy instead of a clip. Can heat up and over heat. Human/Trilosian.
Energy Pistol: Lotari/Shadow Hunter side arm. Looks like a 9mm, except metallic and it uses Energy.
Energy Rifle: Lotari/Shadow Hunter main weapon. Looks like a P90, except it's metallic coloured and uses Energy. Looks like a phaser rifle blast.
Light Ion Laser: The weakest weapon a ship can have, but the strongest a HMOMCS, though very fast recharge rate. Use it to lower a ship’s shields, or if used on an HMOMCS, used it for whatever.
Heavy Ion Laser: The average joe of ship's weapons. You can use this baby for just about anything! Good recharge rate, and average yield, two of these things can destroy anything up to a light cruiser by themselves. But I'd recommend using these to diable a ships systems after there shields are down.
Ion Cannon: The second most powerful weapon in the game. It is a powerful and large Heavy Ion Laser blast. It's like twenty of them firing at once! High yield, slow recharge rate. I'd recommend you use these for the big and slow ships of the enemies’ fleet.
Energy Laser: Tied with the Ion Cannon in second, this laser has an average recharge rate and can fire powerful bursts of 'Energy'. Use these to take down the cruisers of the fleet, cause it can catch them for sure.
Matter/Anti-Matter torpedo: The Third most powerful weapon in the game. This torpedo has a high yield and a good recharge. Use these projectiles to disable a ship (any ship class), and then let the bigger guns destroy them for the over kill. But remember, you only have 250 of them. Special: Some of your torpedo's are outfitted with devices that target and then follow the ship until it impacts. You get to use one of these babies every six turns. Maximum is 30.
Energy Cannon: The most powerful weapon in the game. It harnesses the energy of space around them and fires a top yield energy ball at the target, instantly disabling the ship. But remember, it has a very slow recharge rate. Use this to disable the more powerful ships then destroy it with your lasers. Recharge is eight turns, and rotation is four.
Autocannon: Another fairly weak weapon in the game, this baby is used in ground installation short range turrets, and on HMOMCS’s, especially the Escort class.
Railgun: Just about as powerful as a Light Ion Cannon, this baby is used on ground turret installations and on HMOMCS’s from a Heavy Attack Class and up
Blast Cannon: This is like the artillery of a military. Similar to the railgun, this baby stacks up to a Light Ion Cannon. Used on ground installation turrets and HMOMCS’s
