"Sir, shields are down to forty-four percent!" screamed a young ensign on the bridge of the NTGA battleship Guardian.
"Turn to course 4256. 23 and engage that enemy cruiser!" he bellowed to the same ensign, while jumping ou of his chair in order to avoid being hit in the head with a large bunch of cascading wires. Once he was back in his command chair, he was frowning. Could they hold the line forever?
Flash Back
Vice Admiral Jack Griffin sat staring at the TV Screen. He was watching the news, and for once, something actually caught his eye. Except, it wasn't in a good way.
"This is Inter Galactic News Network reporter Stacey Chun bringing you a special report, live from New Tokyo," said an invisible voice. Then it switched to the asian reporter, Stacey Chun, standing outside a fairly large building.
"This is Stacey Chun giving you a special report. We have just been informed that Fleet Admiral Hunter was just contacted by an unknown source from Pluto Base. The message is still unknown to us at this time, but it is clear that the- wait, we have something! I am switching you to New Terran Galactic Alliance Council Chambers, live from New San Fransico," she said, and then again, it switched to the NTGA Council Room.
The elderly Admiral Hunter began to speak.
"As you all know, I was just contacted by an unknown source from Pluto Base. I was the only one to recieve this message, and the only one that will ever see it. I will explain to you what the message was now.
"No more then three months ago, I had military installations built near the civilian Pluto Base. The military complement that was on and around Pluto was: twelve New Terran Star Ships, five military installations housing no more then three thousand NTGA officers, and five hundred HMOMCS's. Then just no more then one week ago, we un-espectadly lost contact with Pluto Base and the surronding military installations. And now, just today, I got a horrifying video." Jake Hunter coughed slightly, looked down at his pre-prepared speech, then continued.
"The video was of the commanding officer of Base 528, the closest to Pluto Base. And this is what he said. 'For anyone who can hear us, this is Pluto Base! Last week, we were attacked by the Shadow Hunter's! They easily broke through the outer defences and we're coming down in waves. They took out Base 232 and Base 847 in no less than seven hours. We pulled back to Base 528 and Pluto Base, as the other was completely desserted due to the fact the bombarded it before the actual ground attack began!
"'We're barely holding the line now! We had to pull back to Pluto Base. By the looks of it, they broke the Inner Defenses and the last of the HMOMCS squads. d**n, this is the last transmission from Pluto! The-' and that's it," finished the Admiral.
He looked up at the audience around him, shocked and horrified faces staring down at him. He continued to speak.
"Now, as of today, as I am chief of all NTGA military actions, I am putting the Sol System under full alert, I repeat, full alert! All units on outer planetary bodies are to pull back to Earth ASAP, as we are making our stand here. All Terran Defence Force troops are to mobilize ASAP as well. NTGA troops will be mobilized fully after we take in the reinforcements. Evac. preparations of civilians to the colony of New Caledonia is now under way as of this moment. Thank-you for your time..."
A shocked Jack Griffin turned off his T.V. and got dressed into his uniform. He beamed up to his battleship, which was orbiting Earth right at this moment, directly onto the bridge. His crew was surprised, and they looked at him with questioning eyes.
"As you must know, the Sol System is now on Full Alert because of impending Shadow Hunter attack. I am to assemble a fleet of ships to hold off the Shadow Hunter's at Titan and Mars, so that the evacuations can be a success. Commander," he turned to look at a young man of about thrity wearing NTGA uniform as he sat down in his command chair.
"Order these ships to assemble at these coordiantes, and then to head out to Titan. From there, we form the Titan Blockade until further notice."
The commander nodded and walked away.
End Flashback
And now he ended up here, back at Earth, holding the Shadow Hunter's back in space. They had breached the outer defences, but not the inner defences... yet, anyway. And by the looks of things, battles on the ground weren't going to well for the NTGA.
The ship rocked violently as it was repeatedly being hit by multiple Shadow Hunter Heavy cruisers.
"Turn hard to starbort and fire on that Cruiser!"

(Nice) Hmmm I'm not sure how to get into this RP easily... I'm just going to try this:
The Gettysburg had been ordered out of space dock to participate in the defense of the sol system a mere 5 hours before the attack began.
"Sir we cant take much more of this!" Yelled the weapons officer.
"We have no choice lieutenant! We must hold this line until reinforcements arrive!" John shouted back at him.
"Yes sir but if we die then there will have been no point to the death and destruction!"
"There will be a reason lieutenant! We will have bought enough time for the rest if the inner defenses to fortify themselves and we will take a few of these shadow hunters with us!"
Flash back
Captain Maxwell was watching the news feed from his private quarters on-board his unfinished ship the Gettysburg.
Something caught his eye while he was watching and it was in a very bad way. He turned the volume up just in time to hear
After hearing this broadcast John quickly got his uniform ready and got dressed. He then went to see the Admiral commanding his base.
The order he received from the admiral was very unusual for an event like loss of an entire defense fleet. He was simply ordered to "Finish the repairs and upgrades to your ship and get a crew together." Which he did as soon as possible.
After the crew was assembled and the ship (mostly) combat ready the Admiral called to give new orders. By this time most of the outer defenses had already been obliterated and this was public knowledge. The new orders were to proceed to the inner defense position and to "hold the line at all costs".
End flash back
And here he was the only remaining ship in this sector of the defense grid facing 10 enemy light cruisers and 2 heavies without the possibility of any backup for a long time.

The Admiral knocked out of his chair by a heavy energy blast from a near by Shaodw Hunter cruiser. Then he got up and saw his ensign panicing, pressing many different buttons on his console.
Admiral Griffin got back up into his chair and asked, "WHat is it, Ensign?" while almost being thrown out of his chair again,
"Sir, the Gettysburg is under heavy fire! All other ships in that part of the defense grid have been destroyed or had to fall back to the inner defense! We need to help them sir! My friend, Ensign Munro, the engineer's assistant is on that ship..."
The Admiral thought it over for a minute. He knew that the Gettysberg had been rushed out of drydock and sent into battle not fully repaired, and that she wouldn't hold out as long as the rest. He also knew that if she was destroyed, that part of the defense grid would be wide open, and they'd be open to be flanked. And then, that's when he made the decision.
"Lieutenant! Target all weapons on the closest Shadow Hunter ship near the Gettysberg. Begin Attack Pattern Hunter 12 at maximum sublight speeds!"
The Guardian, the newest refitted Avenger class Battleship to the fleet made a hard turn to the left and began at amazing speeds towards the fray, all the while it's ships being battered by other ships weapons.
"Fire all rear batteries on that cruiser tailing us!" the Admiral ordered as sparks came flying out of the ceiling and the tactical console behind him.
The Guardian was nearly there, it's Ion Laser's firing in all directions at different Shadow Hunter ships. But then, as it neared the Gettysberg, all forward batteries began to fire on the Shadow Hunter Mother Ship which was almost on top of the Gettysberg. And it seemed, with the Guardian's new weapons specifically designed to combat the Shadow Hunters, had drawn the Mother ships attention. It began to fire on the Guardian, as well as three other Cruisers.
The real battle had begun.

[you too] The Allegiance suddenly jumps into the fray and fires at the nearest Shadow Hunter Cruise. "Sir, the Guardian is under fire!" "Assist then!" The Allegiance passed by several Shadow Hunter starships, which all fire at it. The Allegiance retaliates. A direct hit to the bridge knocks the admiral out of his seat. "Heavy damage sir!" Yelled the tactical officer as his hands danced across his console. "Ram the nearest Shadow Hunter capital ship!" the admiral replied. And so, the Allegiance positioned itself to ram into the nearest Shadow Hunter capital ship.

Just before the Guardian was about to intercept the mother ship and the three cruisers, something of interest seemed to have caught Lieutenant Commander Korlev's attention. THe Admiral could tell.
"What is it, com-" but then the Admiral looked at the viewscreen, and saw the Allegiance on a- on a collision course with a Shadow Hunter cruiser!
"Hail the Admiral, now! What the hell does he think he's doing?" Jack asked himself as the ship was rocked violently by heavy wepaons fire.
"Shields are down to twenty percent!"
"Energy drive coolant chambers have three micro-fractures!"
It was all part of combat... you just had to get used to it.

But before the Guardian could hail the Allegiance, the Allegiance rammed right through the Shadow Hunter cruiser, heavily damaging the Allegiance's shields and slicing the Shadow Hunter cruiser in half. Almost every bridge crew was on the floor, the admiral was still clinging to his chair. "More Shadow Hunter cruisers are approaching us!" Yelled tactical "Evasive maneuvers!" The Allegiance ended up behind the Shadow Hunter cruisers thanks to the excellent maneuvering of the helmsman. The Allegiance fired on one of the cruiser's engines, causing it to collide with another cruiser. "3 more to go!"

(Yeah happy Halloween for yesterday.)
The Gettysburg was being hit hard by the shadow hunter capital ships.
"Sir 2 allied ships are attempting to come to our aid!" Reported the lieutenant at the sensor screen. "They are under heavy fire from the shadow hunters sir. It looks like this is where their main assault is coming through!"
"That just gives us another reason to hold this position. Which 2 ships are closing?" Inquired John
"The allied ships show as 'The Guardian' and 'The Allegiance' sir. They are fighting 3 or 4 capital ships each. They probably wont get here in time."
"I hope they don't get themselves killed trying to save us."
"Sir 'The Allegiance' just rammed one of the shadow hunter ships!"
"What do you mean it rammed them! That maneuver was taken out of strategic thinking when we first built this type of ship."
"Nevertheless they just shattered an enemy cruiser and took allot of damage to their shields doing it."
"Well I don't know what the admiral is thinking but we should go and help a bit. Set a course for 'The Allegiance' maximum sublight speed."
"Yes sir! coming about to course 2168.23 and accelerating."
"How many ships do we have on our tail?"
"Sir 2 heavy cruisers a pursuing. It looks like the rest are going after 'The Guardian'. They should survive the battle though."
"Good the more ships we save the better our chances will be."
"What the hell is he doing! He just rammed a second cruiser! They cant possibly survive another collision like that!"

The Allegiance catches up to another Shadow Cruiser and fires into it's engines again, sending it flying into a NTGA ship. "Oops" "Ahh, well, I'm sure it was dead anyways. Anyways, 1 more to go." "Another ram?" "Na, let's try a little tricking. Head for that Shadow ship." The Shadow Cruiser followed the Allegiance, until the Allegiance did a tight starboard turned and barely missed the Shadow ship, however, the ship following it ran right into it. "There we go, go assist the Gettysburg." "Yes sir."

"d**n sir! It seems we drawed almost every ship away from the Gettysberg!" "Bring us to course 2481.24 and accelerate to maximum sublight speeds! Take over the Gettysberg main position along the defense grid!" said the Admiral, holding onto his chair tightly as the Guardian's shields were being obliterated by enemy fire. "Shields down to ten percent!" said the lieutenant at the tactical station. "Transfer all emergency power to the hull plating!" screamed the Admiral.
Outside, you could see the last of the Guardian's blue shields being wiped away, and then the onslaught of the Shadow Hunter weapons began hitting the hull and it's hull plating. The ship qwas rocking violently, on the inside anyway. Outside, as you looked upon the battle, you saw the Guardian doing almost insane 360 degree spirals towards its destination, and all the while it's hull plating slowly being blasted away.
"Can we get the shields back?" asked the Commander. "Sir, it'll take at least half an hour or so, unless you transfer all auxiliary power to the shield generators. Then, just maybe, fifteen minutes!" said the engineer who was present on the bridge. "Get down to engineering and fix that d**n generator up!" ordered the Admiral. They couldn't take much more.
Finally, the Guardian found it's spot in the middle of the onslaught, Shadow Hunter cruisers slowly creeping up to it, but all the while, she fought back. How did the end up in this mess?
Flash Back
The Guardian and Task Force One had taken it's position just outside of Saturn/Titan space. They were the defense force that had to hold back the Shadow Hunter's while Titan Base was evacuated, and all military forces as well. The fleet just sat there, waiting for the coming storm. They knew most of them wouldn't make it back to the Mars Perimeter, but they also knew they were dying to preserve humanity on Earth, the captial of the NTGA.
And then they came. The Guardian sent word to the other fleets on the Titan/Saturn Perimeter. The Shadow Hunters had attacked the middle flank first. For two hours, Task Force One held back the Shadow Hunter main fleet, making sure they didn't get a good shot at Titan and the evacuating forces. Only five civilian ships and two military personel ships were lost, with a total of three hundred twenty deaths.
Then, the First Fleet, Taskforces One through Ten (about three thousand ships total) fell back to meet the Fifth Fleet (taskforces eighteen through twenty-four, about two thousand ships in total) at the Mars Perimeter. Evacuations were almost completed their as well. Then ten hours later, just as the evacs. were completed, The Shadow Hunters and the two NTGA fleets met in battle. Their forces were about even, but seeing as the Shadow Hunters had superior weaponry, they slowly beat back the NTGA forces. Slowly, the NTGA was pushed back, but they did not give up. Evacuations on Earth were proceeding fairly well, and the outer and inner defenses needed time to come online. After another ten hours of heavy fighting just outside of Earth Perimeter, the NTGA fell back to Earth's outer defense perimeter. And now, they had ended up where they were...
End Flash Back
"Sir, the Gettysberg is out of the way and assisting the Allegiance!" said the tactical officer. "Good. Bring us hard about, ensign!" said the Admiral.

(this is my first role play, I hope you like it=) ) A small fleet of Dark Angels came out of warp on the edge of Plutos system. There leader "Joshua Birthmen" started shouting out orders to the scouts to go round the outer planets of the system and look for planets to inhabit. The Dark Angels are a very new pirate allegiance that specializes in the selling of the weapons and drugs to other pirate allegiance.
After about an hour later Josh got a com from one of his scouts that had been looking round the edges of Kuiper Belt. "Sir we have found a planet that could hold use for 2 or 3 months." "It is called Sedna" came a voise over the com. "Good" Said Joshua. Get there now or I will have your head!" Shouted Joshua.
They were planing to attack the earth system. There target was the main base of the NTGA..... and they were planing to win.

(Umm, just to let you know before I post, I want to say a few things. First off, Pluto isn't a system, it's a planet inside a Solar System, otherwise known as the Sol System. Earth is also a planet. Second: could you give a bit of a back ground on who the Dark Angels are, who this Josh is, and how the Dark Angels werre formed? Maybe even include a bit of a flashbakc on why the Dark Angels want to attack Earth...)

The Gettysburg arrived by the Allegiance just as it sent a shadow hunter cruiser spinning in her direction.
"Evasive maneuvers!" John yelled "What the hell is the admiral doing!"
"Sir its too late we cant evade!"
"Brace for impact!"
The shadow hunter cruiser slammed into the Gettysburg disintegrating against the shields but taking the shields down to 2%.
"Sir we have two enemy ships on screen. The Allegiance is going after one of them. The other one has extensive damage already."
"Good lets go and mop up the injured one. I hope the admiral doesn't do something stupid like send the remaining enemy ship spinning into us again."
"Ha-ha. As you say sir. Closing on the enemy ship."
"How much damage have they sustained?
"Enemy vessel has extensive damage to superstructure and their engines are offline. Their weapons systems are at 1% power and have no targeting systems left. We could blow them apart in one salvo."
"Hold off on that. I want to see if we can capture this ship for those intelligence gits to go over."
"Yes sir. Our boarding parties are ready and able to attack sir."
"Good send them over and tell them to try and take a couple of prisoners."
The Boarding team moved onto the shadow hunter cruiser and moved towards the bridge. They encountered very little resistance with only 5 shadow hunters actually fighting back.

The Allegiance disables the damaged Shadow ship and swipes off on the side of the other shadow ship. The sides of both ship are smashed off. "Fire full weapons into their main generator!" Yelled the admiral This sent the enemy ship flying in a random direction. "Evasive maneuvers!" The Allegiance dodges all of the enemy weapons fire and smashes through another Shadow Hunter ship. It then goes firing at another.

"We got shields back up!" said the Cheif Engineer through the com on the Admiral's command chair. "I could only get you half shield strength, but it'll-" "Have to do, I know!" said the Admiral, and he closed the com.
They were lucky to have their shields back, because another few minutes of constant fire from the Shadow Hunter ships would've caused the hull to buckle.
Back inside the ship on the bridge, the Admiral brought up a small map of Earth and the battle progressing on a small hologram being generated from the left arm of his command chair. He noticed there were two small holes in the defense grid Sun Side. He was going to clear that one up. "Order the Havoc, Rupert, Montreal, Kalen, Vanquisher and Japan to cover those parts of the defense grid," said the Admiral, his eyes not coming off the hologram. "Aye sir," was the only reply he got from the commander. "Now, back to work! Are there any ships in the area other then the Gettysberg and Allegiance in the area?" asked the Admiral, ducking his head to make sure he wans't hit by the sparks that flew out of the ceiling. "Ze only actieev ship in ze area is ze [i[Koralev[/i]," said the Russian Science officer. "Call her up! We make our stand here. Accelerate to one half speeds and begin to attack the mothership head on!" ordered the Admiral. And it was done.
Outside, you slowly saw the Guardian accelerate and then pull a sharp turn to the left. It took a dive and then quickly pulled up again, facing the under belly of the Shadow Hunter Mother Ship. All of it's Ion Lasers began firing at the Shadow Hunter. Others on the port, starboard and rear sides began firing at other enemy ships near by.
"After we finish up here, we help the Allegiance," ordered the Admiral. "If we're still here, sir," put in the helmsman.
Yes... if, thought the Admiral.
